Society of St Gregory Annual Crichton Memorial Lecture

The School for Synodality was invited to give the Crichton Memorial Annual Lecture, held this year on the 7th October 2023 and organised by the Society of St Gregory.

Co-director Avril Baigent delivered a keynote address entitled ‘Enlarging the space of our tents: What new learning is possible from the dialogue between synodality and liturgy?”

Monsignor James Crichton has been described as “Britain’s foremost Roman Catholic liturgist”, and a lecture is held in his name by The Society of St Gregory every year.

The Society of St Gregory was founded by Dom Bernard McElligott, a monk of the Benedictine monastic at Ampleforth Abbey in 1929. Today the Society is the national society for liturgy and music in the Roman Catholic Church in the British Isles.
